Move of the Month: 12/13

Proven business-driver Sharon Ashcroft fords the gap (pun intended) between HR operations and the board

Congratulations to Sharon Ashcroft, who has become the new HR Director of Ford Retail, and also a member of their board. Ford Retail is the world’s largest dedicated Ford dealer group and sees about 90,000 vehicles trundle off its forecourts every year.

The group, operating under a range of customer-facing brands, employs over 3000 people and turns over in excess of one billion quid.

Whichever way you look at it, that’s a heck of a lot of Fiestas, Kugas and Kas. (What is it with Ford brands that the plurals always look slightly wrong?)

Now, Ashcroft– who has also worked at Gamestation and CODA – earned her go-faster stripes with an impressive HR-driven initiative called ‘Moments of Truth’.

As reported in the Marketing press, this was a quantifiably successful intervention which redefined customer experience across the group and helped drive significant improvements to the bottom line.

In her spare time, Sharon enjoys watching ‘Come Dine With Me‘ – so she clearly has an affection for black humour as well as for driving through change in what has not always been the accommodating industry to HR.

Thinking about it, maybe the two are related?
