Top Ten: Hostility

Ten signs that you're working in a hostile environment

How do you know if you work in a hostile work environment? It’s an important question, so here is a compilation of tell-tale signs that your workplace may qualify as ‘hostile’ in the eyes of the law.

1. Your co-workers hiss at you and speak in strange, guttural tongues when you greet them in the morning.

2. The stationery cupboard is filled with unusual paraphernalia such as candles, jars of unlabeled red liquid, and assorted heaps of bones.

3. Invoking the Lord’s name causes those nearby to scream and recoil from you.

4. Nobody wants to share your garlic bread.

5. Your former boss melted into a formless pile of goo when they knocked into your bottle of Evian.

6. Your requests to ‘get a bit of daylight’ into the office are repeatedly denied.

7. There are no mirrors in any of the bathrooms.

8. At the fancy dress office party you were the only one not wearing hooded robes.

9. Interns never seem to last more than a week or two before disappearing mysteriously.

10. The company dental plan is suspiciously comprehensive compared to other benefits.
